Mujimo is a contemporary Japanese artist who explores natural and emotional landscapes through traditional Japanese mediums.
Based in Osaka, Japan, Mujimo’s work focuses on subtle poetic moments, such as falling snow, distant horizons, and shifting light, and translates them into layered surfaces using mineral pigments and washi paper made from hemp and mulberry. By combining classical Japanese painting techniques and a contemporary visual language, she develops delicate textures and tonal variations that evoke the softness and lightness of snow and the stillness and depth of winter.
Many of her works are inspired by her experience in the mountains, where she not only immerses herself in the beauty of silence, but also lives through season’s constant changes. Her Snow Series attempts to translate those sensations into visual forms, expressing the material presence of snow and the emotional impressions that emerge from the moments of discovery and reflection.
Mujimo has presented multiple solo exhibitions throughout Japan. Her works have also been displayed in Haneda Airport Garden in Tokyo and Marui Namba in Osaka.
